BevGARDien® Achieves Police Secured by Design Accreditation for Patent-Pending Eco Anti-Spiking Drinks Cover System
Hospitality customer welfare solution recognised for supporting safer social environments

BevGARDien®, the preventative anti-spiking drinks cover system developed for the hospitality industry, has achieved Police Secured by Design (SBD) accreditation, recognising its contribution towards improving customer safety through practical crime prevention.
The accreditation has also been announced today by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI), owners of the Secured by Design initiative, providing independent recognition of BevGARDien®’s contribution to customer welfare within the hospitality sector.
The accreditation comes at a time of increased national focus on preventing drink spiking, with recent legislation introducing a standalone offence of administering a harmful substance (including by spiking), highlighting the importance of preventative measures alongside enforcement.
Developed by hospitality professionals, BevGARDien® has been designed for use by pubs, bars, clubs, festivals, hotels, universities and event organisers as an additional visible, tamper-evident measure that complements existing safeguarding procedures and helps venues strengthen their wider customer welfare and risk mitigation strategies.
The BevGARDien® system combines tamper-evident drinks protection with customer information, venue resources and staff support tools that complement existing safeguarding practices, helping venues strengthen customer welfare and drink-spiking awareness. The patent-pending design incorporates a four-point tamper-lock system together with a masked adhesive configuration engineered to prevent adhesive contact with the customer’s drink whilst maintaining secure attachment to glasses, bottles and cans.
The complete venue package includes:
- Eco tamper-evident drinks covers for glasses, bottles and cans
- Counter-top Bar Station Dispensing Boxes
- Customer awareness posters
- QR access to anti-spiking information and guidance, including:
- Green and Red Help Buttons providing customers and venue staff with mobile access to venue welfare information, customer guidance and complimentary staff training resources
- 100 unique cover designs within every Bar Station Dispensing Box, helping customers identify and keep track of their own drinks while promoting educational themes including fauna, flora, aquatic life, mindfulness and wellbeing
- A commitment to donate 10% of year-end profits (after tax) to WWF and SpikeAwareUK
Manufactured in the UK using FSC-certified paper and independently tested food-contact compliant materials, the recyclable BevGARDien® Eco system has been developed to support customer welfare alongside hospitality sustainability objectives.
